Shannon Corlett, MS, RDN, LDN

Nutrition Services Manager, Eating Disorders, Emotional Eating, Family/Pediatric Nutrition

If all you’ve ever known are diets, negative self-talk, and restriction/over-eating, it’s time to try something new. Shannon Corlett is an “anti-diet” registered dietitian/nutritionist who specializes in behavior change and thought revision. Shannon is a weight inclusive nutritionist who will support you in finding acceptance in whatever size or shape body you’re in. She is experienced with the treatment of eating disorders, emotional eating, mental health, gastrointestinal disease, and family/pediatric nutrition, all through the lens of abandoning the diet mentality, rejecting restriction, and building intuitive eating skills.

At her core, Shannon is a learner and educator. She is passionate about sharing information and will be as committed to learning from you as she is about spreading her knowledge. This has led her to be the Nutrition Services Manager at Avance Care, to serve multiple terms on the North Carolina Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Executive Board, and to have a strong public speaking and media presence on topics such as finding freedom from emotional eating, stress management, the gut-brain connection, body image/weight inclusivity, and family/pediatric nutrition.

Outside of her professional life Shannon loves to be outdoors hiking, watching baseball, gardening, and camping. You can count on her to ask to see pictures of your dog (or other pets) and to be interested in what you’re currently reading. Shannon’s counseling style is conversational and connected; she will non-judgmentally and patiently support you wherever you’re at on your journey.

Shannon is always making sure communication between me and my daughter is sound. She checks to make sure my daughter is understanding the nutritional concepts and or strategies at each visit. She is patient, thorough and perceptive. My daughter looks forward to talking about food with her and share her new experiences as well.

Shannon is very dedicated. She listens. She brainstorms with you to help you find foods you can handle with multiple allergies and intolerances. She checks on you between appointments. She is absolutely 10000 percent the best nutritionist I have ever been to. She truly wants to help and is sincere. Wonderful person.

I have been so concerned about our daughter and her eating habits that I finally sought help. Shannon was so supportive and helped me understand eating responsibilities, and how we can help our daughter. There was no judgement or criticism, just education and support. I feel like an enormous weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Thank you!

Shannon was extremely knowledgeable, listened and tried to truly understand my goals and current situation. She did not try to push any particular prescribed agenda, was willing to work with multiple options based on my interests.
